Welcome to Taz's Tyus Edney Page

2010 update: Tyus has been named Basketball Director of Operations at UCLA!

This is a very fitting place for Tyus to land - he has come full circle and is now going to be the Basketball Director of Operations at UCLA! Congratulations on the great new gig, Tyus!

2009 update: Tyus is to be inducted in the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame!

On October 9, 2009, Tyus will be inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame! There is a nice little bio of Tyus in that article. That is so very cool.

First we'll hear Taz's Tyus opinions:
Big News - Tyus has signed for 2 years at Benetton Basket in Italy -- and finally -- here is a place where you can read the Italian headlines in English. Hooray! I'm happy for him - they loved him in Italy and he'll get to play where they appreciate a true point guard. After playing in Europe for two years - the first year playing for Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania, as he ended up leading his team to win the EuroLeague and Tyus was named MVP of the Final Four, then the next year playing in for Benetton Treviso (nice site in Italian) in the Italian league... (and coming in second place in that league).. then playing with the Pacers on a team with too many guards... it's nice that he'll get some serious playing time again. Even though I'll miss seeing him on TV.

Also I am pleased to announce that ESPN, The Magazine has found this site worthy of review in last month's issue - Virtual jock-sniffers, click and be counted. I'm proud... and I hope this helps everyone to know to look for Tyus' return to the NBA next year.

2002-2003 Season Highlights

Tyus is named Import Player of the Year for 2002-2003!. Also here is Tyus' current player stats -- he is described as Extremely quick player. Good court vision, can penetrate. Many fast breaks. The type of 'winner'.. Yup they got it right. (01/06/03)

2001-2002 Season Highlights

Tyus heads back to Benetton in Italy!

Here is a very nice article that describes Tyus finding happiness in Europe with his all-star season. Much better being a superstar in a lesser league.. playing time is what it's all about! (although I do miss watching Ty play). (06/05/02)
Tyus was voted to the All-Euroleague Team!. Tyus is the best point guard in the Euroleague. Also yesterday I was getting into my car and caught the end of an interview with someone from the Denver Nuggets who had just finished talking about Tyus in relation to the NBA draft. Wonder if he's coming back to the NBA? I'm really happy for his success in Europe but I would love to see him play here again. Only this time pleeeeas get a coach with a clue about point guards! (05/08/02)
Tyus is called a superstar in Europe as he votes on who will win Euroleague. How cool to see how admired he is! (05/08/02)
Here's a couple of nice shots of Tyus in action. This one I will call Air Tyus II -- I like almost as much as the original UCLA Air Tyus shot below. Here's another nice one (05/08/02)
Let's go back to memory lane... tonight UCLA plays Missouri... who can forget the magical day seven years ago (can you believe it has been 7 years?!?!) when Tyus' buzzer beater won the game and UCLA eventually won the NCAA title. We've been treated to a lot of great articles this week... here is one of my favorites that says Missouri out to exorcise Edney's ghost vs. UCLA. Love it. And this one: UCLA doesn't have Tyus Edney to dribble 94 feet in 4.8 seconds and bank in a winner.... And finally the LA Times comes through with the Bruin-saving, Tiger-taming Tyus Edney layup (03/21/02)
Here is an awesome page of Tyus' season stats this year. He is averaging over 30 minutes a game, 18 points and 4 assists (boy he's turned into a shooter?) . (02/27/02)
Tyus wears the cool red and one shoes. I have the blue ones. . (12/14/01)
The season begins... Tyus is the usual very brilliant self with 20 points and 4 assists in the season opener. Notice in the photo Tyus wears #5 this year... ahhh, just like his great first season with the Kings. I like him in #5. (09/24/01)
Cool, in a preseason game, Tyus scores 26 points and is given the keys to the team. I love this! (09/07/01)
Read all about it at marcabasket. They made a nice tribute to Tyus. with pictures lifted from my site - check it out. (08/06/01)

2000-2001 Season Highlights

Here we go...

Well, the season is over and the pacers had too many guards. Let's hope Tyus goes somewere he can play next year. In retrospect, here's a fun reference to Tyus - the crowd at a UCLA game chanted put in Tyus Edney! after a recent Bruin loss. Indeed. (05/03/01)
Tyus is a proud papa again and also delivers on the court. (04/09/01)
WOO HOO! Tyus is back with a jolt of energy and stole the show with his free-wheeling spirit. 16 points, 5 assists in 22 minutes, with 7 points in a 10 minute stretch. The whole team had fun playing with him (even Isiah had fun watching, and admitted, you gotta play him). More minutes for Tyus!!! (03/17/01)
Chat with Tyus Wednesday the 24th at 7:30pm EST... and here is the transcript. What a great chat it was! Tyus says he is almost back at 100% so we hope to see him on the floor soon. (01/24/01)
Tyus a one man press breaker! (01/11/01)
Hmmm. Isiah "says" he eventually wants to get Tyus into the rotation. That sure would be nice since someone has to pass the ball. (sorry I just had to say it). (12/31/00)
The best Christmas present of all -- Tyus is reactivated for Christmas! Woo hoo! (11/25/00)
What a bummer - Tyus is on the injured list with plantar fasciitis in his left foot (whatever that is). I thought the timing was really fishy with Jalen Rose's return, but I'm glad the Pacers admitted they wouldn't put Tyus on IL unless he really was injured - because they really need him! (11/23/00)
Way cool! Tyus is going to make his broadcast debut on the radio this coming Saturday during the NCAA doubleheader. Wish I could hear it! (gotta go find WIBC-1070 AM on the web...). (11/21/00)
Tyus is finally getting minutes and he looks awesome. He is so smart and all faux PGs in the league could learn from him. What a pleasure it is to watch Tyus play the true PG position back in the NBA. (11/11/00)
FINALLY! Tyus gets some decent minutes and sparks a victory. He played so great, 13 points, 4 assists, 3 steals in only 18 minutes. I swear, Isiah knows what an asset a TRUE point guard is... he should use Tyus more. I am thrilled to see Tyus making all the ESPN/nba.com video clips for this game! He's definitely back, everybody (and looking better and faster than ever). (11/11/00)
Well, the Wizards realize that Tyus should be playing more minutes, as Tyus gives the Pacers a 9 point 4th quarter lead after 5 consecutive points. We want more minutes! (11/10/00)
I have been disappointed at the Pacers use of Tyus so far this season - he has been extremely productive in his small minutes they've given him in the first few games. Finally he got enough minutes to get a mention in the paper as a lift off the bench with 6 points and 4 assists in 9 minutes. How can they NOT play Tyus more? (11/09/00)

It's the preseason!

WOO HOO!!! Tyus made the Pacers roster! It's official - take a look! I am SO thrilled! Tyus was the one they could trust on the floor. Hooray! (10/30/00)
Last game of the preseason... Tyus played the 4th quarter and finished the game as the Pacers won in overtime. Now it's time to wait and see if he makes that roster spot. I disagree with the author's take the Jimmy King has an inside chance because of his drafting by Toronto in Isiah's reign... here's proof: back in 1995 here is what Isiah said about Tyus: The thing I like most about him is he's so mentally tough I can see it in a player's eyes. Forget the smile. . The article goes on to call both Isiah and Tyus baby-faced assassins. This was one of my favorite articles of all times. (10/27/00)
I swear Tyus is going to snatch that last roster spot. The Pacers let two guards go yesterday and Tyus is turning it up in the home stretch. (10/23/00)
No articles to discuss... but I have had my first glance at Tyus playing for the Pacers, and here are my comments. He seems to have reeeeeeeally learned a lot in Europe these past 2 years while I couldn't watch on TV. Tyus has SO many new moves, he is less daredevil-ish (while I admit I loved his daredevil like ways) and he has really matured as a player. The Pacers had BETTER pick him up! (or the Raptors ;-) I won't even mention that it's the 3rd quarter and Tyus has brought the Pacers back into this blowout game.... Geez, give our guy a contract! I can't believe how GOOD he looks... 7 assists and the game isn't over! It's awesome that they let Tyus finish the game - he almost turned the game around and I am really impressed with his "new" game. I swear, his ballhandling and assist skills are reminding me of Muggsy's. (this is the ultimate compliment!) (10/20/00)
He hasn't lost his sparkplug tendencies either! (10/16/00)
Tyus has played well in the first 2 games - 11 points on 4 of 5 shooting. What's amazing is those 11 points came in just 13 minutes. Give our guy some more minutes! (10/13/00)
Cooooooool! Tyus' 10 footer gives the Pacers the final lead in the pre-season opener. Dare I say he's gonna make the team? Also, more great news - nba.com has revamped Tyus' playerfile page with the Pacers logo. More good signs all around! (10/12/00)
I am pleased to show you the first press for Tyus back in the NBA at the Pacers camp -- Tyus is hitting shot after another. Atta boy! (10/09/00)
FINALLY! I have been biting my tongue about this until I found official notice on the net - Tyus has reported to the Indiana Pacers camp! I have heard this reported from many different places, but this is the official news in print. Woo hoo! Also I am assuming that Tyus is impressing them at camp because the Pacers have released two other guards to make room for Tyus on the roster! (10/06/00)

1999-2000 Season Highlights

Postseason stuff...

Tyus stood out at the Wizard's summer camp, averaging 9.8 points and 3.8 assists. He could receive an invitation to their training camp. Another article says he is very quick on the defensive end and is shooting pull-up jumpers not to mention forcing turnovers all over the place. Offense, defense, he's got it all! (07/26/00)
Tyus reports to the summer league with the Wizards. Wish him luck! (07/17/00)
Cool! Tyus is playing for the Wizards in the summer league. (thanks to Chris for this pointer). I've heard rumors in several places that Washington might be interested in Tyus... (07/07/00)
Tyus has been invited to the Raptors free-agent camp starting tomorrow! Maybe my dream of Tyus and Muggsy playing together can really come true. (ok, I know it's not realistic but you've got to admit it is a conicidence). (07/02/00)

The regular season..

Well, I've got good news and I've got bad news. The bad news first, Tyus's team did not win the championship - but hey, one first place and one second place in two years is excellent. Now for the good news -- Tyus is coming back to the NBA!! This is such exciting news - his good play these past two years has paid off, and teams in the NBA have been courting Tyus. This past season, Tyus averaged 14 points during the regular season and 18.5 in playoffs, and averaged 16 points over his two years in Euroleague. Congratulations Tyus, we can't wait to get you back home! (06/02/00)
Woo Hoo! Tyus was MVP of the first game of the Italy finals, scoring 29 points as his team won. This article calls him the fantastic Tyus Edney (natch). Yet another article says great play by Nikola and Edney decided the game. (05/20/00)
Nice quote: Edney, the player who can invent individual solutions in his team's difficult moments. I'm ready for the finals tomorrow! (05/19/00)
Awesome... Tyus is hailed as having great offensive skills... even though this writer things the other team will win. I have the feeling Tyus will reach deep inside and pull out a victory for the second year in a row. (05/17/00)
Woo hoo! Tyus' team sweeps the series and will go to the finals! For the second year in a row, Tyus brings his team to the finals. No wonder he likes Europe! Finals start May 20. (05/13/00)
Here's a picture of Tyus' #5 jersey. I like him in #5. Hated the 20 in Boston, and thought the 4 looked funny for Kaunas. I also liked #11 at UCLA. (05/13/00)
Cool! Tyus had 22 points today as his team team won the first game of the semifinals today against Kinder. Sounds like Tyus pulled it out in the second half for Treviso. Their next game is May 11... go Treviso! (05/07/00)
Well, Tyus' team is in the playoffs again, and has won its first series. It's on to the quarter finals - of course, Tyus has been instrumental in all of this. He is still shooting very well and had a 29 point game recently! Wouldn't it be cool for Tyus to be on the winning team in two European leagues? (04/22/00)
See the results of Tyus' interview on Jan. 18 at EuroBasket. (01/31/00)
In the big showdown against his old team, Tyus was a shooting machine with at least 3 3-pointers and 25 points as was quoted as being irrepressible as Treviso squashed Kaunas. I really miss the good Kaunas web sites from last year... but with Tyus' fantastic play again this season, I can only hope that he will find his way back to the NBA so we can watch his play again. (01/14/00)
Tyus is back in form -- scoring 25 points (and high scorer on his team). Wish I could see some of these games... (12/23/99)
Tyus has a new name overseas -- Road Runner. Very fitting (meep meep!) (12/07/99)
Cool - my first picture of Tyus in his new uniform. Hmmm, green and white, looks just like last year. Also, Tyus scored a 19 point game in his last outing... he's up to his old tricks! (11/27/99)
Looks like Tyus has just had his best game of the season - the first and possibly only player on his team with 20+ points, and also Tyus is making 3 pointers! Woo hoo! (too bad it appears that his team is not as good as last year's). (10/28/99)
This is really interesting... TNT has managed to show a game of Zalgiris (yes, Tyus' old team) and they made a point to mention how they miss their MVP (Tyus) from last year. I still don't quite understand why Zalgiris let their team be split up (but then I don't understand a lot of the quibbles over money). Isn't it more important to keep a core of players together who enjoy playing with each other? I sure am that way ... and can't imagine that these guys feel any different. You don't mess with chemistry! (10/15/99)
Ok, I don't know Italian yet but here are some "translations" I have made from the Italian web pages. Tyus has already been called the foreign sniper and a small and fast alien (hee hee, these translations are cracking me up). Oh, and for some basketball news, Tyus has had a game with 11 points, 5 assists and 6 rebounds. (08/30/99)
Well Tyus has moved on to Italy. I apologize for getting this onto the site so late... I was hoping it was a dream and he would end up staying in the NBA. But as of August 3 Tyus is in Italy playing for Benetton Treviso in the Italian league. I'm having trouble finding english-speaking web sites about this team, if anyone can point me to others, please e-mail me!

1998-1999 Season Highlights

I've got some cool new pics of Tyus' team celebrating their victory. Here's my favorite: Tyus the hero and the big trophy; here's another shot of Tyus with the most interesting trophy I have ever seen. (04/27/99)
I was hoping for a triumphant return to the NBA but it looks like Tyus might be staying in Europe. Seems that his experience with Zalgiris has rekindled the fire that we've known was there all along... I've heard from multiple sources that Tyus might stay in Europe. I've heard a couple of rumors - one is that he will return to Zalgiris (who could blame him?) and another rumor is that he has been offered buckets of money to play for another team (I won't say who) over there. As much as I'd like to see Tyus back in the NBA, I'd rather see him happy for a while. (if only DirecTV would cover EuroLeague). (04/25/99)
I just learned that Tyus' nickname in Kaunas is "The Little God" because that he was the engine of the team in the decisive games. NBA teams, are you ready to come grovelling? (04/23/99)
Zalgiris is the winner of the EuroLeague and the best part (to Tyus fans) is that Tyus was named MVP of the Final Four! He scored 14 points and dished out 6 assists to go with 6 rebounds in the final game. Tyus, with surgical precision, bionic skills and finding incredible baskets had no mercy for the tired and battered opponent Virtus Bologne. Edney was too big for Virtus. Bet the NBA is sorry they let Tyus go now. Yee haw, I told y'all Tyus was a gem. Congratulations Tyus and Zalgiris! (04/22/99)
Tyus' team crushes the opponent and will go to the Euroleague finals on April 22! Woo hoo! (04/20/99)
Tyus has 21 points to lead his team to win the NEBL Promotion CUP '99. He made clutch free throws at the end of the game to push Zalgiris to an 83-81 win. I just love this cool picture of Tyus in the air. (04/07/99)
In the latest game, Tyus had 20 points and 10 assists and also his clutch play gave his team the win they needed into the Final Four! Dang I wish these games were on satellite! (03/24/99)
An 18 point game for Tyus... a shooting machine. (03/16/99)
Tyus had 14 points and 11 assists in a game the other day.. here is the coolest picture of Tyus! Boy I like the photographers in Lithuania! (02/19/99)
Tyus has a newfound love for the game thanks to the great league across the sea! (01/30/99)
Merry Christmas from the Zalgiris Kaunas team. See Tyus front and center! (12/24/98)
Now Tyus is an offensive rebounding machine. Four offensive rebounds in one game. What an all around game he has developed! I also love this new photo of Springboard Tyus. (12/12/98)
Hee hee... Ty dunks in Europe too. Gotta love it... he's made believers across the Atlantic now! (11/22/98)
Tyus gets ANOTHER block in another awesome game - 18 points, 5 rebs, 4 assists, 4 steals. He's on a roll! (11/09/98)
This sounds like Tyus' best game ever. 21 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals. WOO-HOO! I'd say he definitely made the right choice heading to Europe while the NBA crybabies pout about salary caps. Tyus - the Doug Flutie of basketball. (11/06/98)
One of Tyus' latest outings got him 17 points and 4 assists, and another cool drive to the hoop by Tyus. (10/16/98)
WOO HOO! Tyus gets a block! (10/05/98)
See Tyus in his new uniform! And here's a couple of pictures from Europe: Tyus breaks the opponents' defense (looks like our old Ty!) and here he is sneaking a layup . I must say, he looks better in Zalgiris Kaunas green that he did in that hideous Boston color. (10/02/98)
Zalgiris Kaunas only played one game this weekend - great box score for Tyus - 19 minutes, 14 pts, 5 assists, boy I wish we could watch on TV! Thank goodness again for basketball in other countries (not much hope for the NBA). (09/22/98)
After seeing the box scores for his first game, I'm actually glad Tyus went to Europe (even though he got hurt and missed the two season openers). With the NBA lockout, it is refreshing and exciting to see that basketball does survive. Check out his stats - 12 points, 7 assists, 3 steals in 24 minutes. Woo-hoo! It's wonderful to be able to follow European basketball on the net. Thanks to Evaldas for his great site. (09/19/98)

1997-1998 Season Highlights

Postseason happenings...

I'm really bummed to learn that Tyus has signed to play in Europe (for Lithuania) for one year. On one hand, I see that he couldn't wait forever for the lockout to end, but it's really sad that he had to go to Europe to play (especially since Pitino ruined Tyus' rep). I know that if the lockout was not in effect, Tyus would have been signed somewhere in the NBA next season. Now I need to learn how to keep up with European basketball... if anyone can e-mail me with pointers to following the European league on the web, I would be ever so grateful. (07/30/98)
Hee hee... the Tyus Edney Summer Slam Camp! Gotta love it... wish I still lived in L.A. (07/30/98)
Ok it's the off season and it's time to find interesting stats from the past season. Just found this interesting map of Tyus' performance last year - where he is labeled as a dynamo . But then we knew that. Also check out that Tyus was twelfth in assists per 48 minutes and FIRST in steals per 48 minutes !!! Damn Pitino for not giving him more minutes. This really torques me off. (07/17/98)
I'm kind of glad that the Celtics released Tyus (of course they could have been decent and not waited until the day before the lockout to announce it, but hey why start being nice now). It's time for a team who wants a true point guard to pick him up. I honestly feel that Tyus was undermined by Rick Pitino's ulterior motives all season long. First was the mission to trade Chauncey while the Cs could still get something for him, and then it was the task to try and trade Barros and his $3.5 mill salary (at least Dana wasn't a waste of space like Chauncey, but it still sucked that Tyus was a pawn in all this political posturing by Pitino). I hear that Detroit is looking for a pure point... come and get em! Tyus has even bulked up recently, and his jumper is falling... what more do you need? (06/30/98)

Regular season dirt

Well, the season is over. Tyus played really well towards the end when he finally got some minutes. Here's his final stats for the season. Hopefully next year he will go to a team that wants to use him. Golden State is a good possibility, and Detroit really needs a PG. Also, I just read that Tyus is going to be a dad to a baby girl in August. Congratulations, Tyus! (04/19/98)
Tyus dunks again! Now I've got two VHS tapes with Tyus dunking... hopefully nba.com will make this one available on their web site. This one was better (harder) than his previous NBA dunk with the Kings - this dunk was done in traffic; the other dunks I've seen him do were when he was wide-open. (04/15/98)
Tyus has been playing really well lately, and it shows how much he has been working on his jumper. Of course his passing is still great, as seen in this latest movie of a great entry pass earlier this week. (04/01/98)
Tyus got his sixth block of his career last night. Check out his stats and notice how productive he is when Pitino actually lets him play. (03/28/98)
Well my ISP lost my Tyus page, so I've had to reconstruct this page from an old version (so all my smart comments from the past few months are gone, not to mention that I lost all the email messages of ANYTHING that was sent to me since last August, so if I owe you an email please write to me again :-p). Suffice it to say that as much as I'm glad that Chauncey is gone, I'm still disgusted at Rick Pitino's love for a shooting point guard. Tyus has made almost every jumper since "the trade" but he still doesn't get many minutes because he doesn't launch a million bombs per game like the others. Bleh. So I'll probably be pretty quiet here for the rest of the season. Tyus deserves better than this, and I'm sure many teams could still use his talents better. (03/11/98)
Well now Tyus is on the injured list with that Boston Flu. And the Celtics totally suck without a point guard. But they don't notice it yet. The Cs have NOT EVEN HAD THE LEAD ONCE any of the last 4 games while Tyus has not played. ARGH. How long is it going to take for someone to notice this? (besides me). In the meantime, let's look at a nice Tyus movie from the Spurs game the day after Christmas. (01/09/98)
Tyus just had another break-out game (this article officially dubbed him the fastest guard in the league ) and led the Celtics from a 3 point lead to a 20 point lead in just 7 minutes! Wonder when Pitino is going to notice that the Celtics break-outs happen when Tyus is in the game. This team is SO exciting when Tyus runs the show. And it is SO boring when Chauncey slows it down. Grr (please Trade Chauncey to a slow team, and make EVERYONE happy). Well, it was great to see Tyus get the game going. When he's in the game, everybody scores! It's so much fun! Oh yea, tonight Tyus had 4 steals, 5 assists, 8 points in only 13 minutes . This guy needs more minutes when he's playing like this!!! (12/16/97)
Good things come in small packages! What a wonderful article! It's great to see Tyus recognized as he lands the starting position again. This team needs Tyus to get them off to a good start out the gate... it's so refreshing to have a good coach who sees this! (11/28/97)
Tyus does his famous last-minute drive again, this time for the Celtics ( here's the movie itself). During the broadcast, Bob Hill couldn't stop talking about how valuable Tyus is. It was great to see Tyus get recognized on national television... unlike the awful years in Sacto with no press, and no team worth talking about. (11/22/97)
Rick Pitino keeps saying that Tyus is the best point guard on the Celtics team. Why get another? Unless of course it's Muggsy in a Joe Smith/Muggsy for Chauncey and whoever! (11/11/97)
Woo-hoo! Tyus played a great game in his opener against the Bucks. He started out the game with a steal, and continued to be his pesky self throughout, ending with a double-double his first time out this year! Silence the doubters right there and then. The Celtics look like two different teams on the floor: with Tyus and without Tyus. He really ran the floor great, finding the open man (what a concept). I think Pitino was bummed when he had to rest Tyus because the team was really disorganized without him. Oh, the joy of having a good coach who recognizes talent! (11/08/97)
Hooray! Tyus should be activated this Saturday! "Rick Pitino said Tyus Edney, who has been on the injured list with an ankle injury, has recovered enough and will probably be activated for Saturday's game against the Bucks." The Celtics are badly in need of a point guard to lead this team! (11/07/97)
Looks like Tyus might be starting the season on the injured list. (10/30/97)
Is Tyus the fastest Celtic? I think he's the fastest everything (with the exception of Muggsy of course). Of course the fastest race I've ever seen was between Tyus and Muggsy in the Tyus vs Muggsy matchup last year. (10/14/97)

1996-1997 Season Highlights

Here's some of Taz's off-the-cuff reviews of selected Kings games this season, including the Tyus vs Muggsy matchup of the year!

Tyus' reign with the Kings could be over... I HOPE!!!!!!! . He got such a bum deal last season, and I can't stand to watch another season of the Kings anyway. (06/27/97)
Hey! I weigh more than a pile of warmups! (03/13/97)
Stop the season, I want to get off (02/06/97)
Tyus takes a knee to the head and is hospitalized There was silence in my house as Tyus was wheeled off the court on a stretcher. Thank goodness the X-rays and MRI were negative . Tyus is now recuperating at home . (01/16/97) - (01/19/96)
The Coup Flu (®) hits Sacramento bigtime. Wonder where Tyus Edney, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Michael Smith, and Brian Grant have been? Come and find out! (01/04/97)
Tyus had some great assists in this game against Boston. Here's two movies: the first was an exciting alley-oop to "The Animal" Michael Smith (actually I think Tyus and Animal did this twice, back-to-back, in the first quarter) ; the second was to Billy Owens (12/28/96)
A subtle compliment of quiet leadership (12/15/96)
Tyus' nemesis : a Clipper? (12/14/96)
FINALLY! Tyus gets put back into the starting lineup and gets the Kings off to a great start. Tyus ends up being named Player of the Game (that's twice this season already) and also makes a dunk!!!! Surprised a lot of people (but I knew he could do it because he'd done it previously in a UCLA game). I tried to get nba.com to publish a movie of this dunk, but I guess they didn't think Tyus was important enough. I'd do it myself if I had the equipment to get it from a VHS tape to my computer... :-( Maybe next year... (12/08/96)
Curious timing... nba.com announced a Tyus vs Penny December matchup and the next thing you know, Penny's out for 2-6 weeks with a bum knee. Wonder if Penny got chicken? ;-) And what is it with all the knee injuries this year? (11/15/96)
Tyus is ready to go! He's got such a great attitude! (10/31/96)
Tendinitis gets Tyus some pre-season rest What is it with my favorite guards and their left knee problems??? (10/25/96)
I disagree with this article that claims there will be a point guard controversy in Sacto this year. I'm thrilled to see MAR join the team, so Tyus can get some rest, *and* have another super-shooter to pass to! (10/06/96)
